Mum-of-8 on benefits “addicted” to pregnancy doesn’t care if people think she makes “babies for money”

A single mother of eight with benefits said she was “addicted” to pregnancy and doesn’t care if people refer to her as trashy because of her lifestyle.

Marie Buchan, 38, of Selly Oak, Birmingham, has eight children alone and is reportedly living on benefits to support her large family.

Marie, known as “Octomum,” is reportedly receiving £ 500 a week, which equates to around £ 26,000 a year, the Mirror reports.

However, the mother of eight said she wasn’t embarrassed about living on the pension – and said she could easily have another child.

The single mom first made headlines when she appeared on Channel 4’s Show Only Human in 2016.

A clip of the show has since surfaced again on TikTok in which Marie said, “I’m addicted to pregnancy, I’m addicted to childbirth and nutrition, I’m addicted to it.

“I think a lot of people really see me as trash. Lazy, useless, just making babies for money.”

She said of one of her children: “She is a happy baby. So I could do it again very easily.”

Marie has seven girls and one boy who are now between six and 18 years old.

However, Marie claimed that as a single mother, she worked 21 hours a day and looked after her children.

She recently faced mass reactions after appearing on This Morning saying life was better with benefits and saying she wanted to get a titty job.

However, Marie claimed she used money from trunk sales and part-time work to pay for her surgery rather than using her services.

Last December, she raised concerns about the pressure on parents from the lockdown after taking care of her children at home “for most of the year” as schools closed due to the pandemic.

“Government applicants like me, a mother of eight, are forgotten,” she told Metro.co.uk.

In January, Marie said she was hospitalized after testing positive for Covid.

She had to isolate herself in her bedroom while the rest of her family stayed downstairs.

The mother described the situation as a “complete nightmare”.
