The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI President Young-sam Kim) announced on the 27th that it had signed a business agreement with 365mc Networks (CEO Nam-cheol Kim) at its headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do to develop artificial intelligence (AI) -based endoscope technology.
The goal of the agreement is to develop endoscope technology specialized for liposuction that applies AI algorithm-based data processing technology. It was promoted to increase the safety of medical procedures and examinations by acquiring meaningful information of the anatomy from image data.
Unlike general endoscope, liposuction specialized endoscope is equipped with functions optimized for soft tissues, such as muscles, blood vessels, fat, and nerves, which have a low degree of rigidity in the body.
KETI has various technologies and commercialization experiences related to artificial intelligence. In the medical field, bio-health care technology is developed at the Human IT Convergence Research Center, which is a dedicated research organization.
365mc Networks is an artificial intelligence big data company specializing in obesity. It opened Liposuction Analysis Medical Research Institute, which solely focuses on fat studies, last year. It is taking the lead in obesity treatment research with world-renowned research partners such as Johns Hopkins Medical School in the US, Seoul National University, and KAIST.
The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding and agreed to cooperate in △R&D on AI-based endoscopic technology specialized for liposuction, promotion of public research projects for new technologies, and △self-investment and investment attraction for commercialization of R&D results.
President Kim of KETI, said, “With this agreement, KETI’s core technology is expected to be combined with 365mc’s surgical experience and device operation expertise, which has created and led a specialized field for liposuction in the domestic medical market. We will do our best to ensure the stability of endoscopic procedures and examinations through innovative product development.”
CEO Kim of 365mc Networks, said, “General liposuction is performed with the touch and feel of the surgeon’s hand. Thus, above all else, the surgeon’s experience and skills had to be guaranteed. We expect that more precise and safe liposuction surgery will be possible through an endoscope specialized for liposuction in the future.”
